ARIAT NATIONAL ADULT MEDAL

POINTS

Points will be awarded to sixth place in the same manner as Hunter Championships (i.e.; 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, 1/2). This number will then be multiplied by the number of riders competing in the class to determine the number of points received.

QUALIFYING PERIOD

All classes held at shows starting on or after August 21st of the previous year, through shows starting on or before August 20th of the current year will be counted toward this year's finals.

CLASS CONDITIONS

  1. Class to be judged in accordance with current USEF standards for equitation.
  2. Conventional tack per USEF Rules, Art. 2209.2.
  3. Classes must be split in accordance with USEF EQ103.3b.

CLASS SPECIFICATIONS

Open to all Amateur members of the USEF and CEF who are eligible to compete in the Adult Amateur Hunter Section at this show. Effective December 1, 1997: a rider may not compete at the same horse show in any hunter or equitation class in which the jumps exceed three feet, three inches (3'3").

To be shown over a minimum of eight fences 2'9" to 3' in height, spread not to exceed fence height.  The course may be either a Jumper or Hunter type course and must include at least two changes of direction and a combination. Water obstacles (i.e.; water jump, liverpool) are not permitted. The top four riders are required to perform at least two individual tests from USEF Tests 1-19. An Open Numerical Scoring System must be used in the first round, with each rider's score announced at the completion of their round. There is no minimum requirement to fill the class.

REGIONAL SERIES

Each Regional Series will consist of all shows in an USEF Zone. Canada will be an additional region. At the end of the qualifying period the rider accumulating the most points in each region will be declared the winner and receive an invitation to the finals.

FINALS

To be held in conjunction with the Capital Challenge Horse Show, Show Place Arena, Upper Marlboro, MD.

The finals will be conducted over a course of at least 10 fences at the appropriate height including a double and a triple combination. The course must include at least two changes of direction. The top ten riders will return for a second round of at least eight fences including a combination. Further testing will be at the Judge's discretion.

The top ten finalists in the Ariat National Adult Medal, at the Capital Challenge Horse Show, will receive an award. Both winners will receive a Perpetual Trophy. The Trainer of each winning rider will receive a Trainer's Award. Ribbons to tenth place.
