The Buffalo Therapeutic
Riding Center is home to SBS Farms, Inc. which continues
the proud tradition of the Saddle and Bridle Club and is one of the top show stables in
the northeast. These horses and riders travel extensively,
competing
at major shows throughout the country. Susan B. Schoellkopf, Director of SBS Farms, is
committed to providing superior quality service to the equestrian community. Susan is
involved with associations that both govern and promote the horse industry and has been
associated with the Center for 35 years. Susan is a licensed
R rated judge with the USEF. She has trained some of the top hunters and
equitation riders in the U.S. and Canada. Susan has served as a judge for the
United States Equestrian Federation. Susan serves on the junior hunter
task force, hunter task force and the D and M committee. Susan is the zone 2
chairman.
JENNIFER ALFANO
Jennifer Alfano began her riding career at the age of three at her parents farm
in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She started showing in the walk/trot division and went up the
ladder from ponies to junior hunters. At the age of twelve Jennifer went to train with
Maxine Best.
She finished her junior career with Maxine by
placing 7th in the USET finals and 10th in the
USEF
medal finals.
The care of the famous Grand Prix horse Gem Twist became Jennifer’s next accomplishment. Jennifer traveled with Greg Best and Gem Twist to the Seoul Olympics where Greg and Gem won the silver individual medal. Karen Marsh offered Jennifer a job at her sales barn in Amindale, New Jersey.
In 1990 Jennifer went to work for Susan Schoellkopf and SBS Farms Inc. in Buffalo, New York. Jennifer has trained many equitation and hunter riders including Lauren Gioia(3rd and 8th in the ASPCA finals), Stephen Comunale, Kristy McCormack(3rd in the USEF pony finals), Emily Buck and Diego Creel.
Jennifer has produced three USEF National first year green hunters; Kansas, Big Bad Wolf and GG Valentine.
Jennifer is a two time World Hunter Rider champion. In 2005 Jennifer was leading hunter rider for The Ocala HITS winter circuit.
Jennifer Alfano, who trains and rides at SBS Farms, was the 1996 and 1997 World Hunter Champion. Jennifer trains many adult riders, pony riders and junior hunters during the year.
Jennifer has been Leading Rider at Harrisburg, Ocala HITS Winter and Summer Circuits and the 2008 National Horse Show
Jennifer has 3 hunters in the top 75 of the International Hunter Derby for the 2009 finals.
She has been champion with Rock Star, GG Valentine, Jersey boy and Sting at Harrisburg, Devon, Washington and the National. Rock Star IDS Leading the International Derby money won for 2008.
Jennifer has trained many top juniors including Katherine Newman to the win in the Washington medal in 2008. She also has trained Meredith Bartolone to the reserve amateur owner champion at the National Horse show 2008.
